What I learned on today's trip

     Today I went to the New York Public Library- Hamilton Grange branch and I found that the databases which the librian provided was very useful to me. Although at the beginning I did not find anything relate to my novel, I tried many different databases and finally I got what I want. I got some books which were related to my main subject and themes.
     While in the library, I listened to the librarian to explain how to use the databases. I learned from her that by using the New York Public Library website, we could find many information based on what we needed.

     There is always a meaning behind a sign. People can almost see any signs around them. The surface of the sign may tell people about something, but when people read,think and see deeply inside the sign, there will be something different or more meaningful things which people can search for and understand. People can also have different views on it.  They should be able to absorb the meaings behind a sign. Before getting into the content of the messages, looking for the exact meaning which is hidden inside the messages is indispensable. People may find this everyday in their lives with deep thinking. Study the signs will discover more and they will not miss any words. These kind of reading is necessary and very important when people discover them.

Topic for research assignment

   For the final research assignment, I want to choose a review of novel called Split Image as my research topic . I want to pick this because this novel is one of the novels that I have read and I am very interested in it. This novel shows the relationship between children and their immigrant parents. I want to fully understand how immigrant parents think about their children.

Reponse to " The machine is Us/ing Us"

      After I watched the video, I discovered that in nowaday people are absorbing information and getting ideas from the internet as the technology develops so quick. People can communicate through any social network , which makes people to share thoughts and information. For example, in a blog even a title can show its contents and ideas of what people are thinking . At first, people write by using pencil or pen, but in this society, people demand efficiency and speed. Progressively, digital text can replace written text. I am agree with what Professor Michael Wesch's Youtube video states that "The Machine is Us/ing Us". Everyday people share information and thoughts in the internet, the machine can spread their ideas quickly to everyone. The machine is representing the people, who originally get the ideas and share them through internet.
